Fuchsias are a popular choice for summer bedding schemes and containers, due to their attractive, usually pendent flowers from summer to autumn. Some are hardy enough to be used in perennial planting schemes, and may even be clipped into a low-growing hedge.
'Tom Thumb' is a compact, upright, bushy, deciduous shrub with ovate to elliptic, dark green leaves and, from summer into autumn, small, flowers with reddish-pink sepals and mauve to purple, single corollas.
Cultivation
Grow in moist, fertile soil in full sun or partial shade. Plant the base of the stem 5cm below the soil surface. Mulch in winter and shelter from cold, drying winds.
