Phormium 'Golden Ray' (Golden Ray New Zealand Flax) - Upright to semi-arching flax to 4 to 5 feet tall with leaves that have a broad mid green central band surrounded with creamy yellow stripes and a fine orange-red to dark pink edge. Plant in full sun to light shade.
Can tolerate fairly dry conditions (Coastal) but looks best with occasional to regular irrigation. Hardy to 15-20 F.
Possibly root hardy below these temperatures but with severe foliage damage unless protected. This cultivar is reported by Lindale Nursery in New Zealand to be a sport of 'Gold Spike'.
