Astilbes are shade- and moisture-loving plants, bearing masses of ferny foliage, from which elegant plumes of feathery flowers appear from late-spring. They do best in woodland garden schemes where their pink or white blooms provide a splash of colour.
‘Sprite’ is a dwarf variety which features a foliage mound to only 10” tall of slightly glossy, dark bronze-green leaves and drooping panicles of shell-pink flowers on arching stems typically rising 12-18” tall in late spring. 1994 PPA Plant of the Year award.
